They're both interested in pictures of everyday objects, scenes, ordinary events, and in seeing how the camera transforms them, how the most mundane things, when photographed, can become subtly evocative, ironic, mysterious, meaningful. They're mainly focused on projects that somehow deal with the potential narrative within images and photography’s alleged truthfulness. They have been working together for years on photo-text projects; He didn't believe me is a photo-text project and book made up of three short stories that share an atmosphere of mystery and deep skepticism. The plot develops through a sequence of allusive snapshots and text, the whole narrative is a sort of hallucinate wander, a philosophical trip on anonymous city streets, unknown places and strange outskirts. The book was published in 2018 by osservatorio fotografico.

Nicola Baldazzi (photographer) and Veronica Lanconelli (writer and curator) have been working together since 2013. Books: He didn't believe me (2018) and Piccolo prontuario di fotografia segnaletica (2013), both published by osservatorio fotografico, independent publisher and cultural association founded by Cesare Fabbri and Silvia Loddo, which they are part of. Their books have been exhibited at Livre Circulations (2016), Athens Photo Festival (2016), Fahrenheit 39 (2017), Les Rencontres D'Arles (2018). Recent shows: Nel pozzo (Officine Matteucci, Faenza, IT, 2020), Sulla strada, nella pineta (Marmo, Forlì, IT, 2019), He didn't believe me (CISIM, Lido Adriano, IT). 

Nicola Baldazzi (1985) studied photography with Guido Guidi at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ravenna and attended workshops with Cesare Fabbri, Andrew Phelps, Gerry Johansson, Jason Fulford, Gus Powell, Joachim Brohm. He was finalist at Giovane Fotografia Italiana (2013), Premio Francesco Fabbri (2014), FotoFilmic18 (2018) and won Premio RAM (2014), Agarttha Arte Prize (2018). In 2016 was selected for the book and exhibition Abitare il deserto. Recent exhibitions: Nel pozzo, Officine Matteucci, Faenza IT (2020); FotoFilmic18, Polygon Gallery, North Vancouver (2019); Looking on, MAR, Ravenna IT (2019); Dove Viviamo, Copenhagen Photo Festival (2018); Fotografi nei giardini delle residenze reali, Palazzina di caccia Stupinigi, Torino IT (2018); Italianism, Palazzo della Farnesina, Roma, IT (2017).

Veronica Lanconelli (1987) graduated cum laude in Philosophy and Literature and then studied photography with Guido Guidi. She attended summer schools and workshops of both photography and writing. Se co-curated for osservatorio fotografico the group show Looking on, MAR, Ravenna, IT 2019; X.Xu, The sound of stars, Colabora IT (2018); Cesare Ballardini, Giovanni Zaffagnini, Tecla / City Tour, Palazzo Rasponi, Ravenna IT (2016). She wrote texts for photobooks and exhibitions, for example: Cesare Ballardini, Dal Vero, Isole, Torino, IT (2019), Marcello Galvani, Eggs and Asparagus (Skinnerbooks, 2017).
