Nathan Storey Freeman

Nathan Storey is an experimental artist and poet living between New York and Texas. His studio practice questions our relationship with iconography, reimagines the queer as the natural, and proposes new ways of seeing. Through engaging methodologies of collage, print, and performance, Storey composes installations, happenings, and images that reckon with the body, language, culture, and nature. His work is informed by printmaking as protest, queer ecology, liberation, subjectivity, sexuality, the unconscious, over saturation, mysticism, and world making. Recent and upcoming projects include installations and performances at Prattsville Art Center, Prattsville; The LGBT Center, New York; Castillo de Luna, Rota-Cádiz; PS120, Berlin; Assembly Room, New York; 80WSE Gallery, New York; The Institute of Fine Arts, New York; Honey's, Brooklyn; New York University, New York; Columbia University, New York; and the Houston Center for Photography, Houston. Storey holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from New York University. In 2019, they founded SUBLIMATION, supporting experimental and interdisciplinary works by underrepresented and queer artists in New York's Lower East Side.
