2020 has been a year filled with numerous unpredictable events for the United States. Some of them necessary and long overdue, others devastating. Covid-19 being the largest disturbance of them all. In March, the world shut down in an attempt to stop the spread of the pandemic. As a way to naturally curb my own anxiety, I began documenting what I saw with my Canon EOS A2 and some Ilford HP5+ film, shooting images of our new reality. Everything seemed abandoned, drenched with despair. Thousands of people around the world, jobless and petrified of contracting the virus. These images record a time of uncertainty and upheaval and stand in remembrance of the over one million people that have died, as well as the suffering and struggle of the essential workers that were pulling us through then and now. A reminder that we must all continue doing our part.
